TATA Motors Reveals HBX Concept – Auto Expo 2020

    Last Updated

Two weeks ago, Our home-ground car maker TATA Motors launched their first premium hatchback TATA Altroz.  I’ve already discussed about it in one of my previous post. ( If you haven’t read it kindly click here to know more about TATA Altroz ).

Today they showcased a very close-to-production concept that previews its smallest SUV yet, the HBX, at the 2020 Auto Expo. It is based on the H2X concept revealed at the 2019 Geneva Motor show. We can expect the HBX Production model under the Nexon variant.

TATA’s HBX is the second model which built on their new modular ALFA platform following the TATA Altroz. Talking about the exterior specs, like with other newer Tata cars, the front fascia features a split-headlamp setup with the main cluster located lower down on the bumper which gives a bold SUV-like look.

Same like Tigor and Tiago, it’s a petrol only model. It is likely to be powered by 86hp, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine with standard 5-speed manual gearbox. We can also expect an all-electric version in the next 2 years.

TATA HBX will compete against Fiat Punto Evo, Mahindra KUV100 NXT, Renault Triber, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and with the new KIA Sonet. Its prices are expected to range between Rs 5-7 lakhs.

Since it’s a near-production model we can expect the same look with some more tweaks to the micro SUV on Indian roads. We can expect the production version by October 2020.
