Rava Kesari Recipe | Kesari Bath – How To Make the Best Kesari At Home

    2

Rava Kesari RecipeRava Kesari / Kesari Baat is a sweet Indian food that is common throughout the country. The term “Rava Kesari” means semolina pudding which is flavoured with saffron and orangish in colour. The word Kesari means orange colour and also means saffron in some instances. Since the dish is made with Rava and has an orange colour, it is named as Rava Kesari (source-Wikipedia).

Before we go into the details, don’t forget to take a look at the other recipes posted in the Recipes section. Also, follow us with your email address to receive notifications of new posts via email. Let’s dig into the making.

Ingredients to Make RAVa KESARI RECIPE – Kesari recipe ingredients

    • 100 grams of Rava/Semolina
    • 200 grams of sugar
    • 400 ml. of hot water
    • 5-6 tbsp. of ghee
    • a pinch of salt.
    • 2 crushed cardamoms
    • 10 Raisins (use as needed)
    • 10 Cashew nuts (use as needed)
    • 1 tbsp. of Kesari colour powder or a pinch of saffron strands

To get the right proportion, I would recommend you to measure the Rava, Sugar and water in a glass in 1:2:4 proportion. For instance, if you are using 1 glass of water, then use 2 glasses of sugar and 4 glasses of hot water from the same glass.

    Preparation

    • Heat a pan with 2 tbsp. of ghee and fry cashew nuts and fry it on low flame until you get a light golden colour and keep aside.
    • Add raisins on the same pan and roast it on low flame until they swell up and keep aside.
    • Add 4 more tbsp. of ghee on the pan and add 100 grams / 1 glass of Rava/Semolina and fry it in a medium flame, with constant stirring until a nice aroma comes.
    • In the meantime, boil 400ml of water and add this hot water into the rava pan and stir constantly for another 2-3 minutes.
    • Now add 1 tbsp. of Kesari colour powder or a pinch of saffron strands (here I’ve added orange colour) and a pinch of salt. Give a nice mix in medium flame and stir well for another 2-3 minutes.
    • Now add 200 grams of sugar / 2 glasses of sugar and mix well. This is a crucial part of the making. Sometimes, when you add sugar and mix, immediately you may find few lumps. You must stir well in a way to mash those lumps.
    • Now add the ghee fried cashews, raisins and crushed cardamoms and stir in medium flame for another 4-5 minutes or till the Kesari forms like a thick form.
    • You can add some more ghee to give the Kesari a rich, smooth texture and serve it in a bowl as you see in the cover photo.

The yummy Rava Kesari is ready to serve now. Simple Isn’t it?

For all the superheroes who are trying to save the world by staying at home, this is the perfect recipe to kick start your cooking skills. Do try cooking this dessert and let me know your comments below.

When the Queen is on board, the Bentley “Flying B” emblem in the bonnet is either replaced by the Queen’s personal mascot of Saint George slaying a dragon or a single standing lion. The Bentley State Limousine roof will have an illuminated coat-of-arms and a pennant. These usually feature the royal coat of arms and the Royal Standard respectively, although other symbols can be used for occasions such as a state visit.

Let’s find out more about the precautions taken in India to prevent an outbreak. And how well can India fight the disease outbreak. Let’s find out.

    Precautionary steps

    – At the borders

    • Evacuation and quarantine. Indian citizens from locked down cities abroad where evacuated, flown back to India in a special Air India flight and placed under quarantine for 14 days.
    • Strict temperature checks at ports and isolation. All the passengers entering India undergo temperature checks at airports and the suspected people are immediately isolated.
    • Reduce imported cases. In an effort to prevent large number of imported cases, visas were denied to foreign nationals traveling from the affected countries.

Things you should know about the coronavirus (COVID-19) – The Pandemic

These days are very crucial for all of us as the coronavirus has seriously affected our day-to-day operations. The coronavirus (COVID-19) is almost everywhere and likely to spread further, making more people sick and even kill some. Last week, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic. In this post, we are going to check out five things you should know about the coronavirus (COVID-19).

    No.1 – History of COVID-19

COVID-19, short for “Coronavirus Disease 2019,” is the official name given by the World Health Organization ( WHO ). It is from a large family of zoonotic viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to severe respiratory diseases. This virus was originally thought to have emerged from an animal source that infected humans, but now we are seeing the virus spread from person to person. It is spread via droplets when a person coughs or sneezes. One can be exposed when in close contact (within 6 feet) to someone who is sick.

The human coronavirus was first characterized in 1965 where Tyrrell and Bynoe found an upper respiratory tract infection in children which was named as B814. It was also found in human embryonic tracheal organ cultures obtained from the respiratory tract of an adult with a common cold.

In fact, the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS – CoV) virus is also from the family of coronavirus which came from direct or indirect contact with camels which caused 842 deaths. Shockingly, there are several known coronaviruses circulating in animals that have not yet infected humans.

    No.2 – How it started in 2019?

The 2019–20 coronavirus (2019-nCoV) was originated from the Wuhan seafood market in December 2019 where birds, rabbits, bats and snakes, monkeys, chickens, donkeys, sheep, pigs, camels, foxes, badgers, and bamboo rats are traded illegally.

    • 31st December 2019: China informed WHO that they found an unknown virus spreading in Wuhan province. On 1st January 2020, China confirmed that the 41 admitted hospitalized patients are affected by the 2019-nCoV infection.
    • 5th January 2020: Chinese officials confirmed that this was a reoccurrence of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) virus, an illness that originated in China and killed more than 770 people worldwide in 2002-2003.
    • 11th January 2020: China announced its first death from the virus, a 61-year-old man who had purchased goods from the Wuhan seafood market.
    • 13th January 2020: the WHO reported a case in Thailand, the first outside of China, in a woman who had arrived from Wuhan.
    • 20th January 2020: China confirmed its third death and 500 more infections, with cases including other provinces like Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. On January 26, the death toll rose to 56, with almost 2000 confirmed cases.
    • 30th January 2020: the World Health Organization (WHO) declared coronavirus a global emergency as the death toll jumped to 170.
Things you should know about the coronavirus (COVID-19) - The Pandemic - Just A Library
    coronavirus outbreak ( source – Internet )
    • 11th February 2020: the WHO announced that the new coronavirus would be called “COVID-19”. On March 11, WHO declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic as more than 35 countries which include India, Philippines, Singapore, USA, UK, Italy, and Spain confirmed positive cases.
    • 15th March 2020: Spain Italy reported about 3000 new coronavirus cases and more than 200 deaths over the last 24 hours. On March 17, the total number of cases in Italy rose to 31,506 with 345 new coronavirus deaths in the country over the last 24 hours.

No.3 – How to break the chain and protect yourself and others?

    How it spreads?

The current understanding is that the virus is spread mostly person to person. As I mentioned earlier, it is spread via droplets when a person coughs or sneezes. One can be exposed when in close contact (within 6 feet) to someone who is sick. Current symptoms reported for patients with COVID-19 include mild to severe respiratory illness with fever 100.4 °F [38 °C], cough, runny nose and difficulty in breathing. The symptoms may appear anywhere from 2 to 14 days after exposure.

Steps to protect yourself and others

Well, there is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19. However, there are some preventive actions to protect yourself and others.

    1. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
    2. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
    3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
    4. Don’t bite your nails.
    5. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
    6. Stay home when you are sick.
    7. Cover your mouth and nose while sneezing or coughing and dispose of the used tissue in a garbage bin immediately.
    8. Clean frequently touched objects and surfaces with antiseptic liquid water (eg. dettol with water).
    9. Take a shower after coming home from work/outside.
    10. Even though, it is unclear whether COVID-19 can spread through the meat. Let’s avoid having non-veg for some time. Instead, eat more vegetables to improve your immunity.
    11. Avoid littering in public areas.
    12. Wash your bedsheets and pillow covers once a week.
    13. Dispose of used napkins and food wastes frequently.

No.4 – What is happening now?

The COVID-19 has affected 167 countries and territories around the world and the death toll has jumped to 7954 with 198,178 confirmed cases. However, I am relieved to hear that 82,779 people have recovered from the COVID-19.

Here is a link, if you want to know the live updates of the Coronavirus spread. Thanks to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) for this live update.

Click here – COVID-19 live update dashboard

No.5 – What should you do if are sick?

    1. Stay at home if you are sick. Your health and other’s are more precious than your work.
    2. Avoid crowded places and public transportation.
    3. Practice social distancing if you are sick.
    4. Limit your contact with pet animals.
    5. Visit the designated hospital immediately if you feel any of the symptoms mentioned above.
    6. Wear a facemask if you are sick.
    7. Avoid sharing personal items like clothes, towels, makeup products and etc.
    8. Monitor your symptoms and seek medical care right away if your illness is worsening (eg. difficulty in breathing).

Stay safe and share this article with others.

Hyundai Aura vs Suzuki Dzire – Who is the sub-4-meter sedan king?

In the current automobile market, Americans love SUVs, Europeans love hatchbacks, Australians love pick-ups, British love estate, and Indians? Indians love sedans. Sedans are considered a status symbol by most of the people in India. Keeping this in mind, automobile manufacturers in India came up with a sub-4-metre sedan variant.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire has been the leader of the compact sedan segment for a very long time. To break this record, South Korean automobile manufacturer, Hyundai group has just launched its own 4-meter sedan – Aura. In this post, we are going to compare some of the key features like interior, exterior, engine, performance, and safety in Aura and Dzire.

    Engine

Hyundai Aura gets three BS6-compliant variants: 1.0-litre Turbo GDi petrol which can give 100 PS and 172 Nm of torque, 1.2-litre MPI petrol delivering 83 PS and 114 Nm of torque and 1.2-litre Ecotorq diesel powertrain churning out 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque along with a 5-speed gearbox which is available in both manual and automatic transmission.

On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki Dzire is powered by a BS6-compliant, 1.2-litre, K12 VVT petrol engine that makes 83 hp and 113 Nm of torque. There is also a BS4-compliant, 1.3-litre, DDiS 190 diesel engine which can deliver 75 hp and 190 Nm of torque. Both the engines are offered with a 5-speed manual and automatic transmission options.

    Exterior

Both the Aura and Dzire are 3,995 mm long. But the Dzire is little wider than the Aura. However, the Aura compensates this in the height, by providing an extra overhead space. On the front, the Dzire comes with a big grille and eye-looking headlights adding a bold look to it. But the Aura is really the show stopper with a bigger grille, sharper headlights and triangle-shaped foglamps. Both the cars are equipped with 15-inch alloy wheels. However, Aura’s diamond-cut model gets more attention than Dzire.

    Interior

Hyundai Aura vs Suzuki Dzire - Who is the sub-4-meter sedan king?

Inside, both did a good job in terms of ambience and quality. The Dzire comes with a traditional look while on the other hand, the Aura’s cabin feels sportier and futuristic which gave an advantage to it. On the back, the Dzire sums it by providing more legroom and thigh support. In terms of boot space, the Aura has more space of 402litres while the Dzire comes with 378litres. Aura also scores more by providing better touch screen quality, sound quality and some cool features like wireless charger, projector headlamps etc.

    Safety

Hyundai Aura is built on Strong Body Structure with integrated 65% Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS+HSS) Application. Although we don’t have the Global-NCAP ( New car assessment program ) rating, we can expect a better safety. On the other hand, Suzuki Dzire scored a 3-star rating on the standard variant and 4-star on the optional safety pack on the Euro-NCAP crash test programme. Apart from this, both get standard safety features like airbags, pre-tensioner force limiter seat belts, ISOFIX (child seat restraint system) and ABS with EBD.

    Price

The Dzire starts from Rs 5.8 lakh to Rs 8.7 lakh and the top-end model and Aura starts from 5.8 lakh for the base petrol and goes up to Rs 9.2 lakh for the diesel top-end AMT.

    Writer’s Opinion

Well, if you are looking for a spacious and fuel efficiency model, then the Dzire is for you, but if you are looking for a premium design with more loaded interior features, then the Hyundai Aura got you covered.

What is your view on Hyundai Aura vs Suzuki Dzire? Let me know in the comments section.

    No.1 – TATA Altroz

    Top 5 Cars Under 9 lakhs in India - 2020 - Just A Library
Top 5 Cars Under 9 lakhs in India - 2020

Altroz is the latest and the first premium hatchback model launched by TATA Motors on January 22, 2020. It is indeed premium looking and one of my favourites in the hatchback models. The name Altroz was inspired from the bird Albatross. It is built on their all-new ALFA (for Agile, Light, Flexible, Advanced) architecture and Altroz is the first model to be built on this platform.

It is coming in both petrol and Diesel engine options: 1.2-litre petrol with 86PS/113Nm and 1.5-litre Diesel with 90PS/200Nm. On the outside, it gets halogen projected headlamps, LED DRLs, fog lamps, wipers and with 16-inch alloys. Inside, it is equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto support, voice commands, part digital cluster, ambient lights, front armrest, climate control, rear AC vents and cruise control along with some safety features like 2 Airbags with ABS and EBD, ISOFIX mounts, adjustable rear headrests, auto headlamps/wipers and parking sensors on both front and rear.

As mentioned earlier, Altroz is one of my favourites, since it has scored good points in style, performance, quality and safety. In fact, the Tata Altroz is country’s second Made-in-India car to secure 5 stars in the adult occupant protection after the Tata Nexon. The price for Altroz starts at Rs. 5.29 lakhs and goes up to Rs. 9.34 lakhs. I know it is more than our price range, but the extra money you spend on this model is totally worth.

I have already posted an article about TATA Altroz in detail. ( If you haven’t read it kindly click here to know more about TATA Altroz ).

    No.2 – Hyundai Elite i20

    Top 5 Cars Under 9 lakhs in India - 2020 - Just A Library
    Model Name – Hyundai Elite i20 ( source – Internet )

The Elite i20 is Hyundai’s popular premium hatchback model. The Elite i20 is available in 1.2-litre petrol-manual (83PS/114Nm), a new 1.0-litre petrol-CVT auto (120PS/173Nm) and a 1.5-litre diesel-manual engine options. A couple of weeks ago, Hyundai officially released the first design sketches of the next-gen. Elite i20 hatchback and now the production-spec model images are leaked online, ahead of its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show and going viral over the internet.

On the outside, the new leaked images confirmed that next-gen. 2020 model will be in a sporty design with an aggressive look in the front with LED DRL-lined headlights and the large diamond finish grille and new dual-tone alloy wheels. The taillights come with angular Z-shaped LED elements, a faux diffuser and dual-tone black roof.

Inside, the 2020 Elite i20 model is expected to have a completely redesigned dashboard, featuring an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and their own-house BlueLink connected-car technology. It will also get features like wireless smartphone charging, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, push-button start-stop, six airbags and a new steering wheel. The prices for Elite i20 starts at Rs. 5.59 lakhs and goes up to Rs. 9.41 lakhs and we can expect the next-gen. sometime in mid-2020.

I have already posted an article about the upcoming Hyundai Elite i20 model in detail. ( If you haven’t read it kindly click here to know more about Hyundai Elite i20 ).

    No.3 – Maruti Suzuki Swift

    Top 5 Cars Under 9 lakhs in India - 2020 - Just A Library
Model Name – Maruti Suzuki Swift ( source – Internet )

Maruti Suzuki has got a massive fan following after launching its sporty hatchback model, the Swift. In fact, it is the only car with all the generations have always been best-sellers. It comes with both diesel and petrol engines with both manual and AMT gearbox.

Talking about the design, the new Swift is 110kg lighter than the old-gen. models. Also, the sleek looking front with a cute grille, a rising window line, and sharp tail-lamps gives a sporty look. Overall, the design indeed looks swiftly.

Inside, it is equipped with auto climate control and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. Apart from the overall quality is to be good but not great. Even the plastics in TATA Altroz looks more premium than the Swift. The 268-litre boot is fair enough to carry a good amount of luggage and even the rear seats can be foldable to take more.

Talking about safety, Swift scores 2 stars out of 5 stars for adult occupancy in NCAP Rating which is really shocking for the best-seller in India. In fact Suzuki’s Senior Executive Director, CV Raman confirmed that Suzuki won’t be sending their vehicles to be tested by Global-NCAP which is clearly showing that Suzuki is not focusing on consumers safety.

The prices for Swift starts at Rs. 5.19 lakhs and goes up to Rs. 8.94 lakhs.

    No.4 – Maruti Suzuki Baleno

    Top 5 Cars Under 9 lakhs in India - 2020 - Just A Library
Model Name – Maruti Suzuki Baleno ( source – Internet )

Baleno is the premium and the largest hatchback model from Maruti Suzuki. It retails from Maruti’s premium Nexa outlets. It comes with both diesel and petrol engines and also a petrol-electric engine with both manual and AMT gearbox. The Baleno is known for its spacious cabin with one of the modern-looking cars from Maruti Suzuki.

Inside, the 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto which sits nice and high in the V-shaped centre console gives a good sight to the driver. As I mentioned earlier, the rear seats come with a good amount of legroom space. The 339-litre boot is fair enough to carry a good amount of luggage and even the rear seats can be foldable to take more.

Safety features like two airbags, ABS and EBS come as standard on all the variants. However, the NCAP rating of 3.5 stars for driver and 1 star for child seat clearly shows that Maruti Suzuki is not doing their homework when it comes to safety.

The prices for Baleno starts at Rs. 5.07 lakhs and goes up to Rs. 9.03 lakhs.

    No.5 Renault Triber

    Top 5 Cars Under 9 lakhs in India - 2020 - Just A Library
Model Name – Renault Triber ( source – Internet )

Last, but not the least. The Renault Triber is again one of my favourites, because of its performance, quality and proposition. It is under 4 meters in length which is even 5 millimetres smaller than Maruti Suzuki Baleno in length. The Triber’s 7-seater idea was inspired from sub-4-meter Kwid with an SUV touch. It is available only in petrol engine option with a manual gearbox and an AMT auto.

Outside, the short bonnet, large wheel arches, roof rails give an SUV look. The chrome treatment on the grille adding a bold look to it. Inside, the cabin quality is fairly good with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the centre. Apart from this, it gets a part-digital instrument cluster and the multi-fabric finish on the seats give a premium look.

Well, the whole point of this 7-seater model under 4 meters is to accommodate as many people in a small car. And the Triber covered it perfectly in a unique way. With all the 7 seats in place, the Triber has a luggage capacity of 84 litres which is just enough to carry 2 small bags. However, the rear-most seats are foldable and even removable too. So removing both the rear seats will give us a capacity of 625 litres, which is clearly the largest space for any car of this size.

The price for the Renault Triber starts at Rs. 4.95 lakhs to Rs. 6.63 lakhs. If you have a big family and you want to get a 7-seater SUV under 7 lakhs, then the Renault Triber is the best option available in the Indian market.

Apart from the above list, there are some good cars too like the Ford Freestyle, Toyota Glanza (which is just the replica of Suzuki’s Baleno), Honda Amaze etc..

What do you think about Maruti Suzuki’s safety measures?

    What am I missing here?

Is there any other car available under 9 lakhs with better features than the above models? Let me know in the comments section so that I can add it in.

Toyota Vellfire MPV launched in India

Toyota Vellfire MPV launched in India

The Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPV) became popular in India since 2019. It began with Mercedes-Benz launching its luxury MPV, the V-class Marco polo at the Auto Expo 2020. However, the idea gained attention when KIA and MG launched their MPVs – the Carnival, and the G10, on the second day of Auto Expo 2020. We all know that the 80 years old Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota is already ruling the Indian SUV market with its Innova Crysta and Fortuner. In addition, they have just launched their luxury MPV, the Toyota Vellfire.

    Toyota Vellfire
Model Name – Toyota Vellfire ( source – Internet )

The Vellfire model is a restyled version of Toyota Alphard with few minor changes in the exterior. Toyota is planning to ship the Vellfire model from Thailand to India as a completely built-up (CBU) model under the homologation rule.

For the unknown, the homologation rule is the process of certifying that a particular car is roadworthy and matches certain specified criteria laid out by the government for all vehicles made or imported into that country.

The Vellfire is available only in a single fully-loaded variant. It is powered by a petrol-electric hybrid model of 150 hp, 2.5-litre petrol engine coupled with a 143 hp electric motor. The combined output stands at 197hp with a CVT automatic transmission gearbox.

Inside, it gets a 10-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a 360-degree camera. At the back, the second row will have two VIP seats with powered ottomans for leg support. Ventilated and electrically reclining seats, and a ceiling-mounted 13-inch rear entertainment screen. Other luxury features include a powered tailgate, sliding doors, 2 sunroofs, 3-zone automatic climate control, mood lighting, and individual tray tables.

Since the Vellfire is available only as a single luxury variant, itis priced from Rs 79.50 lakh onwards (ex-showroom, pan-India). This makes it more expensive than the entry-level Mercedes V-Class Marco Polo; and way more than the KIA Carnival which is at 24.95 lakh onwards (ex-showroom).
