Good Omens Season 2 Review: Is Good Omens Season 2 good?

Good Omens Season 2 Review: Our favourite Angel and Demon are back on the block. And this time, they are faced with a new problem. Aziraphale and Crowley have been outcast from Heaven and Hell, and yet somehow still manage to find themselves in yet again in a tussle between the two realms. Season 1 of Good Omens was based on the novel of the same name written by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Season 2 is said to be based on the unreleased sequel’s idea conceived before Pratchett’s death in 2015.

Neil Gaiman returns as the writer for the show. ohn Finnemore joins him as the co-writer for this season. Good Omens Season 2 premiered on Amazon Prime Video on July 28, 2023. The show sports six episodes of just under an hour each.

Good Omens Season 2 Summary

Good Omens Season 2 brings back Aziraphale, Crowley, the angels of Heaven and the demons of Hell back to our screens. Aziraphale and Crowley are living their lives perfectly fine until one day Gabriel, the Supreme Archangel of Heaven knocks on Aziraphale’s bookshop. Gabriel has no memory of the past, and he has even for gotten his name. As Aziraphale and Crowley embark on a mission to find out what is up with Gabriel, they come across an unexpected story which unravels a bunch of secrets.

It turn out that Gabriel and Beelzebub eventually fell in love during their meetings regarding a new armageddon on Earth. The two decide that it will be wrong to have another armageddon, their meetings soon turn into cute date. A romance between the higher powers of Heaven and Hell is something very, very unusual but the two beings have their decision set in stone. When Shax declares a war on Aziraphale’s bookshop to get hold of Gabriel, her plan falls through. The archangels of Heaven and the higher demons of Hell come to Aziraphale’s bookshop where Gabriel’s memory loss is unraveled. His memory is also restored and he and Beelzebub leave their posts to live a life with each other.

Soon chaos decends upon Heaven and Hell as the angels and demons fight amongst themselves to get claim the now-empty positions. While attempting to resolve Gabriel’s mystery, Aziraphale and Crowley also take upon themselves to make humans Maggie and Nina fall in love with each other. Metatron from Heaven also descends upon Earth. He talks to Aziraphale about a matter of urgency. After the angels and demons leave, Nina and Maggie go and talk to Crowley about what they see between him and Aziraphale.

Crowley comes to a stark realisation then. When Aziraphale returns from his talk with Metatron, he informs Crowley that he has been offered the position of the Supreme Archangel to replace Gabriel. But Crowley is not happy. He listens to Aziraphale but also puts his two cents on the matter. He urges Aziraphale to give up the offer and to live with Crowley. Crowley launches into a heartbreaking confession of love towards Aziraphale, and also kisses him. But Aziraphale is firm on his decision.

Despite the new events unfolding, it is not without suspicion that something large is at play in the Heaven. Aziraphale might just be a pawn in the larger scheme of things. Now he is without Crowley’s help, so who knows what challenges he might have to face? Aziraphale and Crowley go their separate ways with feelings of anger and sadness between them.

Good Omens Season 2 Review | Good Omens Season 2 Ending

Good Omens Season 2 lands fair and square on its promise to present a comical yet gripping tale of angels and demons. As Aziraphale and Crowley solve the mystery behind Gabriel’s anaemia, they also unravel their emotions towards each other. Since the first season, there has been a canon that Aziraphale and Crowley are more than just two best friends. Fans have been speculating that Aziraphale and Crowley might have romantic feelings for each other. This was confirmed right from the first episode of season two, when Crowley exclaims “Beautiful” Aziraphale, being the romantic he is thinks it is for him and blushes for a second there.

In the finale episode though, we see one of the best romantic confessions in the fictional TV show universe. When Crowley urges Aziraphale to give up the offer of being the Supreme Archangel and give a chance to their story, whe Crowley says to Aziraphale that “We can become us”, the fandom collectively lost their minds. It was one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking love confessions which did not have an “I Love You” in it but it spoke volumes nonetheless.

When Crowley kisses Aziraphale and leaves after, the range of emotions – from sadness, to shock to joy – that reflect on Aziraphale’s face are proof enough to know that the feelings have been mutual for a long, long time. Perhaps since the day they first met. What is so interesting about Good Omens is that it brings forth the underlying idea of hypocrisy within a society. There is ample use of sarcasm and obvious speech to point out the double standard and fake niceties prevailing in the society.

While it borrows ideas, characters and themes of divinity from Christianity, Good Omens does not poke ill-intended humor at one’s faith. The show makes an attempt to show that despite the contrast in Heaven and Hell, one will find that upon closer inspection, the demarcating lines are sometimes blurred on the edges. Aziraphale and Crowley’s friendship and even Gabriel and Beelzebub’s relationship is a testament to the claim that there need not be a warring situation every time.

Neil Gaiman’s writing paired with the late Terry Pratchett’s humour makes a great attempt at presenting a new perspective to the age-old ideas propagated in the society. It also goes to show that there is no thing as black and white even in religion. There is, and always will be a grey area where one needs to think upon one’s morals and conscience before making decisions of any degree.

Good Omens is a literary, visual and auditory treat for the viewers. It packs with it a delectable string of music and tracks which accentuate the situations on screen very well. It goes without saying that the addition of music sometimes also strikes a funny chord to the whole viewing experience. In conclusion, Good Omens, one might argue, is an acquired taste. But if you are a fan of all things mystical, celestial, moral and societal then I am sure that you would love the show as much as I do.

So, since there is no published work to adapt the story nor is there any sign of the Gaiman returning anytime soon, fans might have to wait.

Yes, this creamy oil-infused conditioner from the best-selling Elixir line deeply nourishes your frizzy and dull hair into a smooth shiny one. Plum Vitamin C Serum Review: My Experience

I have been using Plum’s Vitamin C Serum not only because it is effective and does its job really well but it also is quite affordable as opposed to Vitamin C serums of other brands. Initially when I began using the product, I noticed an instant glow on my face. I had not realized but I had slightly uneven skin especially on my face and at that time, I had just begun my skincare journey which meant I was oblivious to the necessity of a sunscreen. So, of course I had a lot of tanning and uneven skin at the time.

Not only did the serum give me an instant glow but it gradually made my skin plump and even toned. The tanning had greatly reduced as well and my skin looked generally hydrated and healthy. Using the serum along with a sunscreen helped to counter the negative impact of the sun on my skin in daytime. It is a water based serum which means it works well for acne prone skin as well.

The best thing about the serum is that it is fragrance free. I have a sensitive olfactory system so I easily get headaches with fragrant products so I especially like that the serum is fragrance free. Another thing that I liked about the serum is that it is a stable composition which means it is beginner friendly. I did not get any allergic reaction or felt uncomfortable using the serum. It is especially good for people with sensitive skin.

However, of late I have been noticing that my skin feels a little oily and sticky after I use the serum. In winter, when the weather is drier, this serum works very well but ever since I have been using it in humid weather, I do feel my face sticky and oily. It would be recommended that people living in humid weather conditions may use discretion while trying the serum. Overall, it’s a great beginner friendly product and the brand comes up with many discount events and sales which makes the product very cost effective as well.

Therefore, before you start using this lotion in your daily routine, please make sure to do a patch test on your hand to see it’s reaction.

In general, I find Lacto Calamine lotion safe for use, and I haven’t experienced any major side effects till date. While using the lotion, if you ever encounter any irritations or itchiness, please discontinue the use of the lotion and seek advice from a dermatologist to address any issues quickly.

This is something that Ban Ji Eum got caught up in as well. By refusing to let go of the pain of her first life, she cursed herself into a perpetual state of misery, living and remembering a millennium worth of memories, people, relationships, pain and grief. It is only when she let go of her pain, “Its’s all good now”, said her first life self Su, that she was able to live her life not an extension of her previous lives but as a new person, with new experiences and a truly new self. Ji-eum might be living as an extension of her past trauma for a millennium but so are Moon Seo-ha, Yoon Cho-won and Ha Do-yoon. After Ji-eum’s death as Joo-won in a tragic accident, Seo-ha cannot but relive in the moment of losing her. It’s as if he is frozen in time, ridden with guilt and panic attacks. Cho woon, who lost her sister and Do-yoon, who lost his father and had to grow up sooner, didn’t have it any easier. The show’s message of ‘letting go and living on’, through the lives of these characters makes it a heartwarming tale of love, memories, trauma and healing.

Not only is the story lovely but it is visually and semantically beautiful. The bridge scene with Ji-eum walking as the commander of her little troop of 18 behind her, as different versions of her own self, her different identities, personalities, coming together as her strongest support system, time and again through her memories, the building blocks of her 19th life, and her current persona, is just beyond description.

By the end of the show, encouraged by the love and care of people around her, she decides to be her own self in her 19th life. And thus, she says goodbye to all those people she loved and remembered, all experiences and pain that she encompassed in herself and to all the versions of herself that she carried within. To become and live as just her 19th self. To just be Ban Ji-eum.

It would be understandable if I say that I teared up multiple times in the course of this lovely show, so beware and prepare yourself, especially the last two episodes when Ji-eum reconciles with herself and decides to let go, trust the people she loves, and walk on a path of self-healing and self-forgiveness. Maybe I need to fix an appointment with my past self, and maybe, just maybe, you might be interested in this rendezvous too. Fare thee well, Ji-eum!

Is See You in my 19th life worth watching?

Yes, 100%. Not only is the story lovely but it is visually and semantically beautiful. It is mildly exfoliating, gentle and not harsh on the skin. It lathers so well with the skin, a tiny amount goes a long way. I really love the way it lathers on the skin, feels so silky. After washing the product, you could feel your skin being so smooth and silky. Though there are exfoliating granules, it is so mild and gentle. It doesn’t make your skin feel dry.

The fragrance is mild. You could feel it when you’re showering. But after shower you won’t be able to feel the fragrance. This body wash really does keep you energized all day long. It provides you an kick start in your shower, and this I say, is really worth it.

Revenant (2023) begins with the life of our protagonist Gu Sanyeong, a woman preparing for Korean civil services examinations while also working for many part time jobs, living with her mother who has been diagnosed with anxiety disorder since after an unknown terrifying experience. It is when she loses all her savings to a con-man that she discovers that her supposedly dead father was very much alive until he actually passed away for real.

Have you died before? You haven’t died before so why are you speaking like you know anything about it?

One of the most interesting characteristics of Revenant that makes it different from similar kdramas in the past such as The Guest (2018) is that the premise is not solely based on an all-powerful supernatural entity of an unknown origin. Revenant’s supernatural chase has a beginning and hopefully an ending (that doesn’t end with many more deaths). The evil spirit that goes on possessing the characters is an outcome of inhumane cruelty and greed of the society which has to reap the seed it has sown.

The spirit’s revenge is for the inhumane and torturous sacrifice it had to suffer and for what cause? For the rich to become richer? It is not just a tale about a supernatural mystery chase but a tale about regressive traditions, of unravelling the darkness that lies in being human, of denying the right to live.

Niveditha is Kaveri and Rajarathnam’s daughter. She has a dusky complexion which is often seen as a bad thing in our society. She grew up being overlooked as a romantic partner by her peers, and she had to listen to all sorts ‘advices’ to make her complexion fairer. She is a cricketer by profession and is dating a fellow cricketer named Kartik. Things go a little sour between them when Kartik fails to acknowledge Niveditha as a cricketer and introduces her to his parents as a journalist.

The three women embark on a road trip to “live a little, breathe a little”. Initially, they had planned to go to Goa only but Sundari has other plans. This road trip not only takes these women to their geographical location, but also a place of peace, understanding and reclaiming their lives which they had long forgotten to live on their own terms.

Sweet Kaaram Coffee Series Review

‘Sweet Kaaram Coffee’ is one of those sweet and heartwarming shows out there which make you feel good right from the first minute. This women-centric show is a treat for those who look for slice-of-life stories with equal parts sadness and joy. We see 3 generations of women travelling together on a road trip which was as a much needed respite for each of them. Each of these 3 women are on a different stage in their life, but the basic experiences they have shared has been more or less similar.

This also goes for all women out there, regardless of where they come from. The primary experience that united Sundari, Kaveri and Niveditha is that the men in their lives looked down upon them. Their desires, their careers, their wishes were all neglected. They were taken for granted as well. During their road trip, Sundari, Kaveri and Niveditha met with people and experiences which opens their hearts to accepting themselves and reclaiming the parts of their lives which they had lost.

A sense of deeper bonding and companionship developed between these women which was strong to overcome any obstacle. The people they met on their road trip were nothing less than warm and welcoming. The show carries with it an allure of travel and the experience one has. The women meet Vikram Singh Rathore, a doctor by profession who is currently on a bike trip to Ladakh. He shows Niveditha that she is good the way she is.

He shows Kaveri that she too, can go back to her passion for singing. He becomes good friends with Sundari. Vikram’s appearance is nothing less than mystical and mythical. He is a complete contrast to Rajarathnam, Bala and Kartik. He sees the women as equal and not someone who would ‘need permission’ from men to do something. Ayesha Kapur, who shot to fame with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black, makes her comeback to acting with this show. She appears for two episodes only but her character, Julia leaves behind a new perception of life and view towards marriage.

Sweet Kaaram Coffee Series Review: A Road-Trip of Discoveries, Both Old and New

In the final episode, we see that Sundari, Kaveri and Niveditha are enjoying a spa at the airport. Kaveri then declares that they will keep the details of their road trip a secret from everyone. So we do not know what happens after they return home. But this rather open ended ending is also quite apt for the show, because this road trip across India was for them only. It was their outlet to live a little and breathe a little.

They were already facing criticism from their family citing that women are weak and inept to travel alone. So, it only seem fair that they keep their experiences to themselves rather than sharing it with others and inviting unnecessary critique.

If you have been looking to indulge in some women-centric shows which reflects the stronger bonds women have in real life with each other, then ‘Sweet Kaaram Coffee’ is the right pick. The show is a warm hug to the women who are on a quest to reclaim their lives, who want to do and be something for themselves, who want to show the world that they are more than enough. Just like a coffee which has its bitter and sweet flavours, ‘Sweet Kaaram Coffee’ is a window to those bitter and sweet moments in life of women.

The movie tells the story of Owen and Parker, a couple who is soon to be married. Owen has never met Parker’s parents. Parker announces that her parents can finally make it to the wedding. Her parents haven’t been around much since they have been living with a tribe in the Amazon and helps them. But when they do arrive, they do not look or behave anything like Parker had explained.

In order to impress Parker’s parents, Owen goes along with their plans and in a drunken state, he reveals the layout of his bank’s locker as well. As fate would have it, Parker’s parents are not what they have told they are. Owen’s bank is robbed and Parker’s parents are under suspicion. What follows next is the crux of the story, as predictable as it may seem.

When the trailer pretty much gives away the whole story, there barely remains anything to look forward to in the movie. This happened with ‘The Out-Laws‘. When any movie promises a cast with Pierce Brosnan, Nina Dobrev and Adam DeVine, one can expect a slightly enjoyable and promising story but this latest Netflix comedy is all sorts of disappointments wrapped into one. First of all, there is barely anything left for the viewers to guess or imagine as the movie hold one predictable turn after another.

‘The Out-Laws’ boasts of a promising cast but even they could not lift the story up owing to the hastily written story. Adam DeVine’s child-like innocent character is a good execution but it makes way to a gross and even pitiful one in some instances. Nina Dobrev has barely any screen time and whenever she does appear on the screen, she mostly repeats the obvious. Poorna Jagannathan was memorable in Never Have I Ever, but here she is a crass talking mafia head with an accent that feels forced and fake.

One would expect that having Pierce Brosnan and Ellen Barkin would make for a delightful watch, but they are too, reduced to minimal dialogues and callbacks which aren’t very applaud-worthy. Lauren Lapkus has made a name for herself in the stand-up and improv scene, but her caricature character in this movie only makes one want cringe.

Overall, ‘The Out-Laws’ could have been an interesting mix of comedy with action given the light-hearted nature of the story. But there are limits to how much a good casting can carry the story on its shoulders when the predictability and cliche drips right from the start.

The Killer virus, also called Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) virus, is currently making news worldwide due to its outbreak in Europe. The disease, originating from the Nairovirus, is deadly, affecting humans and animals through ticks. The CCHF remained endemic to Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and the Balkans due to the geographical limitations of the principal tick vector until recently. However, with the current climate crisis, CCHF outbreaks are seemingly high all over Europe and have an alarmingly high probability of reaching the UK. As a result, an urgent public health warning has been issued for caution.

The killer virus has a fatality rate of 10-40%, with death occurring in the second week of infection. Interestingly, there is no known vaccine to prevent this disease. The only known antiviral drug effective against this disease is ribavirin. Sounds more like a 2020 flashback. Now, are we looking at a potential pandemic? Well, time will only tell us. Killer Virus Europe – History

First recognized in Crimean Peninsular in 1944, the disease was first called Crimean Haemorrhagic Fever. However, on the discovery of its pathogen in 1969 and the understanding that the same pathogen caused illness in the Congo Basin in 1956, the disease was renamed to its present-day version. According to the WHO, the viral hosts are mostly wild and domestic animals such as goats, cattle, and sheep. Birds, except for Ostrich, remain unaffected by the viral infection.

Symptoms of Killer Virus

The CCHF can show various symptoms with varying levels of severity. The incubation period of the virus can be 3-7 days long after the tick bite/contact with infected blood, and the patients may experience flu-like symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle aches, and fatigue at the onset of the disease. Interestingly, some people might also experience photophobia (sensitivity to light), confusion, and sharp mood swings. As the disease progresses, more severe symptoms may develop, such as:

Hemorrhagic Manifestations: The Killer virus may cause internal and external bleeding. Bleeding from the nose, gums, gastrointestinal tract, or injection sites, similar to dengue fever can be observed in affected patients.

Petechiae and Ecchymoses: Due to blood vessel leakage, small red or purple spots (petechiae) or larger areas of bruising (ecchymoses) may appear in the mouth and throat, and on the skin.

Gastrointestinal Symptoms: Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may occur.

Hepatic Dysfunction: Liver involvement can lead to jaundice and elevated liver enzymes.

Neurological Symptoms: In some cases, patients may experience confusion, dizziness, and even seizures.

Further complications include hepatitis, rapid kidney failure, liver failure, or pulmonary failure, generally after day 5 of infection.

Transmission of Killer Virus – The Infection Cycle

Stage 1: Infected Tick-to-Animal

The Killer virus infects the animals when the carrier tick bites the animal, facilitating the entry of the virus into the animal’s bloodstream. The virus usually incubates in the host animal’s bloodstream for one week following infection. However, the tick-animal-tick infection cycle continues when another carrier tick bites.

Stage 2: Animal/Tick-to-Human

The transmission of the Killer virus from animals to human occurs when humans come in close contact with the bloodstream or tissue of infected animals during and immediately post-slaughter. It is also possible that the virus enters the human bloodstream directly when the infected tick bites a human. Agricultural workers, veterinarians, and slaughterhouse workers are highly susceptible at this stage.

Stage 3: Human-to-Human

Humans get infected by other humans when in close contact with blood, organs, tissues, and other bodily secretions of the infected person. Hospital staff, family, close friends, and relatives of the infected person are at high risk of infection at this stage.

Preventing the spread of the Killer Virus

Human-to-Human

The preventive measures to stop spreading the CCHF from human to human are the same as COVID-19 prevention measures:

Avoid close contact with infected persons.
Use protective gear when caring for the infected person.
Wash hands thoroughly after visiting public spaces or visiting/caring for ill people.

Tick-to-Human

The recommendations of the World Health Organization on reducing tick-to-human transmission are:

Wear protective clothing (long sleeves, long trousers), preferably light-colored clothing to allow easy detection of ticks on the clothes.
Use approved acaricides (chemicals intended to kill ticks) on clothing.
Use approved repellent on the skin and clothing.
Regularly examine clothing and skin for ticks; if found, remove them safely.
Prevent or control tick infestations on animals in stables and barns.
Avoid areas where ticks are abundant and seasons when they are most active.

Animal-to-Human

Wear gloves and other protective clothing while handling animals or their tissues in endemic areas, notably during slaughtering, butchering, and culling procedures
Quarantine animals before they enter slaughterhouses, or regularly treat animals with pesticides 2 weeks before slaughter.

Memoirs of a Geisha Book Review: The defining eye candy of a generation lost to racial bias and wild hate crimes against the non-whites also included prototypical representations of the imagined east through the propagation of most popular forms of media such as books, movies, etc., such as one of the movies – Memoirs of a Geisha, written in 1997, and its feature film, released in 2005, were more prominent in the United States than in Japan. Foreign audiences embraced the tale of Sayuri, the fictional Geisha, whereas Japanese audiences were less enthused.

The book author Arthur Golden and film director Rob Marshall employed the use of ‘Binary Opposition’ and ‘Self & the Other’ to better appeal to their capitalist needs which are usually found in an ill-informed audience about a certain subject to make the forged narrative enticing. Golden portrayed Japanese culture and Geisha as something to be fetishised, exoticized, and romanticised (treating the definition nothing better than an object). Their accomplishment not only demonstrates the progress of these so-called devices (gimmicks) for their target demographic, but it also shed light upon a lot about the West’s (especially, America’s) cultural preferences for the Orient.

Memoirs of a Geisha By Golden Arthur Summary

Golden’s novel was fiction, but its publication and dispersion sparked a cross cultural fracas and piqued western audiences’ curiosity because the story of the fictional Geisha, Sayuri, was plausible. Aside from the utterly irrational and improbable elements of Memoirs of a Geisha; the film version sparked outrage in Japan because the majority of the leading Japanese characters were played by Chinese actors, and the characters’ make-up, movements, and deportment, as well as the settings and scenes, were filled with inaccuracies.

After interrogating Iwasaki about her existence as a Geisha, Golden abandoned an initial firsthand account of a geisha he had specified in the third person in favour of a fictionalised memoir form, drawing inspiration from but changing in disparaging ways facts from Iwasaki’s true story. He never would have invented the story he ultimately wrote using only his fantasy or second-hand details. Golden acknowledged that Iwasaki was critical to his desire to determine the Geisha story. The fictionalised memoir of Golden and the facts of Iwasaki’s life that influenced it were inextricably linked.

The Orient is objectified by the West as something to be seen, photoed, researched, and imbibed. Westerners emerge in Memoirs of a Geisha through the gaze of ‘Sayuri,’ a narrator created by Golden. Any Western concept is credited to Sayuri. Rather than using his own Western voice as the external observer, Golden let the protagonist, Sayuri, a former geisha, tell her own story. Memoirs of a Geisha contains numerous thorough explicit scenes that satisfy the foreign enthusiasm, as “the urge for this spontaneity of the real became an ambition for straightforward and physical contact with the exotic, peculiar, and seductive.”

The sex scenes are designed to tantalise readers so that they can encounter the bodies of geisha, who are not for usage in actuality. Western readers can envision themselves as the personalities who caress, dig deeper, investigate, and ingest the Orient’s bodies. Readers are encouraged to insert themselves as objects of desire into the text. At the same time, readers can keep their distance because the novel’s characters are fictional, either Japanese or American soldiers/occupiers after WWII.

Sayuri, a poor seafront village girl, transforms into an overtly sexual creature who fantasises about sex and sexually promiscuous men. Sayuri is transformed into a sex symbol inclined to be devoured by Golden. “No man will wish to eat it (Sayuri) if he hears a suggestion that some other man has taken a bite,” says Mameha, Sayuri’s high ranking geisha, during the “Mizu Age” (coming-of-age ceremony) competition. Despite Mameha’s warning, ‘Sayuri’ is duped by Baron, Mameha’s danna (patron), an elderly powerful man.

Baron’s only sexual attraction was in shallowly exploring Sayuri’s body, fondling but not lacerating her. The detailed sex scenes involving Dr. Crab and Baron are meant to pique the interest of readers who keep their distance from this exotic eroticism.

Memoirs of a Geisha Book Review – Memoirs of a Geisha Book vs Movie

Orientalism regards the East as the polar opposite of the West. If the West is developed, spotless, beautiful, and elegant, the Orient must be primitive, dirty, shabby, and basic. Golden and Marshall have sown colonial seeds in their books and films that confirm the Orient as the negation of the West. Memoirs of a Geisha perpetuates harmful perceptions of Japanese people and culture. When the West engineer tes the Orient as its polar opposite, the Eastern culture is misconstrued.

Golden and Marshall portray the Japanese as quiet, tensely polite people who eat exotic foods and slurp noodles. Golden and Marshall also create misunderstanding of geisha as sexually submissive women who bathe with strange men, rest their necks on special pillows to keep their hairstyles, play shamisen (musical instruments) made from virgin kittens, and wear facial powder made from nightingale droppings.

These misunderstandings contribute to the perception of Japanese culture and geisha as exotic, primitive, irrational, filthy, unholy, unfaithful, strange, and mysterious. Because Golden and Marshall’s target audiences were Westerners, the cultural mischaracterization and downright lies in Geisha may have gone unnoticed by most viewers.
